ABSTRACT - The analysis of motor-driven power steering (MDPS) ECU is a considerable complex, which is connected with two sensors, a motor, and controller area network(CAN) interface. To evaluate the reliability of MDPS ECU, most tests is achieved as a system unit connected with real sensors, motors and others because of simplicity of test system development. However, this is close to the test system of MDPS system more than the MDPS ECU because the possible test range of MDPS ECU is limited by real devices such as two sensors and a motor. In this paper, we propose a model to test a MDPS ECU with a simulator making the virtual signals and power. The simulator consists of two subsystems. First one is the controller which simulates torque only sensor (TOS) and steering angle sensor (SAS) signals informing the required torque and angle value to the ECU. Other one is the electrical load system which simulates the motor signals and absorbs current from the ECU instead of motor. Although our system can control the signal of sensors diversely, it can be applied to the various tests.
