ABSTRACT
As recent vehicles are applying new electric technologies that need many controls and providing varied information, problems associated with driver distraction and interior design degrees of freedom are found to be the most important issues of vehicle development. Therefore, the goal of this study is to make the new concept interior HMI that can reduce driver distraction and improve interior design degree of freedom. Research process will be made as follows. Firstly, through the analysis of vehicle display trend and online/offline survey, new concept interior package is decided. Secondly, through the ergonomic experiment of touch gesture display, hand reach discomfort, touch gesture performance time and driver distraction time are extracted. By using statistical analysis, the optimal location of touch screen based on gesture is determined. Finally, the author is able to suggest the new concept interior HMI based on compact vehicle.
