ABSTRACT –
Achieving the minimum lap time is the main goal in racecar development. Lap time simulation methods are widely used to predict the sensitivity of lap time to certain vehicle properties, like engine power or tire grip. Most of the known methods are lacking accuracy in predicting the optimum vehicle setup with respect to the drivability requirements of a human driver. The objective of this research is to show the maneuvering time sensitivity of different driver limitations, formulated as vehicle yaw dynamic constraints, in an optimal control simulation environment.
