ABSTRACT
A brand new brake system based on direct-driven electric-hydraulic brake unit was proposed in this paper to search for the meaningful promotion of the vehicle brake performance and handling stability. First of all, structure and working principle of the new brake unit were introduced. Then experiments of the manufactured unit prototype were carried out to obtain its dynamic characteristics and ensure that the unit matches the demands of the braking system. Next the ability of this brake unit to promote braking and dynamic performance was deeply discussed by carrying out simulations of brake process. Simulation results indicated that slip ratio of each wheel can be regulated at the target value rapidly and accurately without vibrations and dangerous operation conditions were nearly avoided. Besides, features and advantages of the brake unit were illustrated and affirmed by tests, simulations and analysis. At last conclusion was obtained that application of the direct-driven electric-hydraulic brake unit can bring notable improvement of the vehicle braking performance and handling stability and surely has the potential for promoting the vehicle active safety technology.
