ABSTRACT – Vehicle handling is one of the most important performances for agile and stable response to steering angle input. Steering ratio, defined as the change of tire angle due to steering angle input, is one of the factors characterizing vehicle response. If steering ratio is simply designed in the static state, it cannot contain compliance effects in driving situation.[1] When the driver tries to turn a steering wheel in the dynamic state, steering ratio contains compliance effect that attributed to lateral acceleration and vehicle roll. This compliance would be caused by deformation of suspension bushing, tire and steering torsion bar, etc. So, steering ratio should be considered in dynamic state that it can reflect filed test results of vehicle responsibility. On this study, it proposes analysis and optimization methods with respect to dynamic steering ratio.
