Abstract

KEYWORDS – Range extended electric vehicle, Route information, Driver’s characteristic, Engine on/off control, Linear regression model

ABSTRACT – In this study, a route based driving control strategy was proposed for the target RE-EV considering driver characteristic. Using the route information collected for a target route, the optimal engine on/off threshold power ( ) was obtained through the optimization process. In addition, driver characteristic was defined quantitatively. Based on the relationship between and driver characteristic, a linear regression model was obtained and considered in route based control. It was found that the equivalent fuel economy for aggressive driver with consideration of both route information and driver characteristic was improved by 8.6% compared with existing CD/CS control. It was also found that the equivalent fuel economy was improved by 1.7% when the driver characteristic is considered.
