ABSTRACT –
It is important to reduce churning loss for improving transmission efficiency. Previously, simulations of fluid flow in the transmission interior were often executed component by component or only for some parts of the whole transmission. In this development project, the whole transmission, including the interior parts, was included in a computer-aided engineering simulation model, and the condition of the gas-liquid mixed-phase flow was also taken into account. Based on the simulation results, churning loss was markedly reduced in a newly developed CVT with an auxiliary gearbox.
