ABSTRACT

Vibration prediction and control is essential for coupled vibro-acoustic system like cars, and rib-stiffened plates is widely adopted in automotive engineering to reduce vibration and noise. This paper aims to predicting the bending vibration of rib-stiffened plate with wave based method at higher frequency. In this study, the dynamic equations of plate and beam are governed by Kirchhoff theory and Bernoulli-Euler theory respectively. Combining the continuity of kinematic boundary fields at the coupled interface and the boundary conditions of plates and beam, the WB model of the plate-beam-plate coupled system is obtained. Subsequently, the vibration response of rib-stiffened plate is achieved. The methodology is validated by a numerical example. It turns out that the displacements of plate and beam obtained by WBM are agree with well the result calculated by FEM. The comparing result of vibration response of the coupled system at 50-500Hz indicates that the accuracy of WBM is higher than FEM especially in higher frequency range. What’s more, the computational cost of WBM is significantly lesser than FEM with same accuracy level especially at midfrequency.
