ABSTRACT – Several electric wheel modules for vehicles are proposed in this paper with the function of unsprung mass reduction. Taking the driving motor as a dynamic vibration absorber, the power is transmitted through the two gearboxes, and the vibration of primary system is attenuated at the resonance frequency. According to the requirements of maximum speed, the power system parameters are matched. After kinematic analysis, considering wheel speed ripple and interference with other components under road excitation, a trade-off scheme is determined. At last, a special structure is adopted to arrange the transmission system in the wheel, which contributes to the compactness. Comparing with the in-wheel motored system, the proposed electric wheel module integrates the transmission system and dynamic vibration absorber in the wheel, with the function of unsprung mass reduction.
