ABSTRACT –In order to decide the sound package in the early stages of vehicle development, it is essential to assess a number of specifications, i.e. sound insulation, weight and price etc. However, it is difficult to achieve conflicting objectives simultaneously and to allocate the weight of each objective appropriately. In this study, sound pressure level (SPL) at driver’s head, weight of sound packages and noise reduction efficiency are three evaluation indexes to be selected to weigh the performance of sound package. Multi-objectives optimization is applied to solve the studied problem. Different cases are gained through replacing materials and changing thickness of sound packages. Then, the three objective values of different cases are calculated with a validated statistical energy analysis (SEA) vehicle model, respectively. Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is used to calculated different weights corresponding to the three objectives. Finally, fuzzy strategic decision matrix is gained by using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation and optimal case is achieved. The result shows that optimal sound package has a superior performance compared to other cases. AHP coupled with fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is proved to be a useful and effective to optimize sound package and can be applied to sound package optimization for full vehicle.
