ABSTRACT

Conventionally, clutch damper is utilized to reduce the rattle noise for a manual transmission in the vehicle. If more noise reduction is asked, a high-cost dual mass flywheel (DMF) may be adopted as an advanced method. In this study, instead of DMF, a new concept of the torsional damper is proposed by applying the dynamic absorber into the transmission shafts. Effect of the damper locations among shafts on vibration is investigated computationally, and as a result, the most effective input shaft damper is decided for manufacturing. To overcome the obstacles of the practical applications, an advanced variable inertia damper (ISD) is finally developed. Additionally, this paper introduces the advanced CSC-CPA which can be engaged or disengaged with input shaft in order to improve the shift quality
