ABSTRACT

Research and/or Engineering Questions/Objective

propshaft w/cardan universal joint is a major source of vehicle NVH excitation,leading to booming or vibration,therefore,it is demanding to investigate/summarize the flow chart,w.r.t sourec,path,response,to aid troubleshooting/development.the goal of this paper is, a)analyze the mechanism/measures on propshaft w/cardan universal joint induced vehicle NVH,and summarize the systematic flow chart,b)solve a 4x4 minivan steering wheel vibration issue,by abovementioned technology,and implement sensitivity study to find out critical parameters.

Methodology

the transfer path model is harnessed, regarding the propshaft w/cardan universal joint induced vehicle NVH,to investigate the mechanism/measures,in the mean time,a steering wheel vibration issue in a 4X4 mini van during ramp-up is exemplified for applying the summarized flow chart to fix issue, as well as delving into the steering wheel vibration and front axle rigid body mode sensibility to critical parameter.

Result

s the mechanism/measures on propshaft w/ cardan universal joint induced NVH is clarified,and the flow chart is made. a 4x4 mini van steering wheel vibration during ramp-up is solved,and sensitivity study is implemented to find out critical parameters.

Limitations of this study

The testing technique is extensively employed in this study,while,no CAE involved,thus,CAE,possibly multibody dynamics,would be next step adopted,to simulate the propshaft w/cardan universal joint induced vehicle NVH.
