ABSTRACT - The shape and thickness of a component cannot be included among automotive components due to the relationship with opposing objects and insufficient space for assembly. Likewise, this component without constant thickness or processed fillet of the bending part shall be selected with a hot forging process using round bar materials in consideration of availability of the forging process. However, the cost competitiveness has declined in accordance with the increase in raw material cost, because the inputted material and weight of the forging product are large with a large quantity of turning operations. Therefore, the technique has been designed from a hot forging process using round bar materials to a cold forging process using plate material in order to reduce the inputted material and weight of the forging product. It is necessary to research the split-type punch of die for the application of plate material while the problems of irregular thickness of components and the small fillet part of the bending part have been resolved. When it is moved from the top dead center to the bottom dead point, the one-body punch only generates the load toward a one-axis direction, but the split-type punch makes it easy for the forming of the bending part, because the load is generated toward a two-axis direction by splitting the punch upon moving to the bottom dead point. Therefore, the application of plate material is possible to reduce the weight of injected materials and the forging product.
