ABSTRACT

In this study, an evaluation method for guaranteeing the quality of a light-emitting diode (LED) for headlamp investigated. A main performance of the LED related with quality in LED lighting system of automotive is optical and thermal characteristics. Regarding the optical characteristics, brightness, color, and temperature dependent performance were analyzed, while thermal resistance, which is the thermal emission performance, was analyzed with regard to the thermal characteristics. In addition, the effect of an air void inside the package, which is generated during the package manufacture process, on the thermal resistance and junction temperature was analyzed.
