ABSTRACT – The present study describes the development of trimming process for hot-stamping steels based on the electroplastic properties of those steels. A trimming system using electroplasticity has been developed using a mold, a servo-press, sensors and an electric current generator. During trimming trials, press motion has been controlled by a servo press machine while the electric current is applied to the trimmed part by an electric current generator. Trimming loads are measured using the load cells attached to the punches of dies. Experiments are conducted by changing the magnitude of electric current and duration during trimming. Experimental results show that trimming load reduces up to 25%, which is nearly compatible with that of 780DP steels. No significant changes in the mechanical properties of the trimmed part are observed.
