ABSTRACT
The tests related to strength tests under load carried out using Fatty Acid Methyl Ester in the common rail system. Upon elapse of the set time, the pumps were removed from the test stand and disassembled for the purpose of determination of wear indicators. Particular attention was paid to wear of the surfaces of the pump shaft journals. The breakdown of average parameters of surface roughness in the point of cooperation of the journals of the tested shaft with the bushings expressly indicates a continuing journal wear process, otherwise confirmed by the changes in the Ra parameter. The observed differences relating to the wear of the pump elements allowed determining the guidelines regarding further engineering works aimed at reducing the sensitivity of the fuel system to differences in the physical parameters of the applied fuels, thus, improvement of the system reliability.
