ABSTRACT –

As one widely used tool in engine development, simulation could provide meaningful concepts and helpful schemes over entire engine developing process. However, two questions have to be answered before simulation become meaningful, which are, how to ensure the simulation model be realistic and how to evaluate the simulation results even if the results are correct, and then how to optimize the design if necessary. In this paper, one benchmarking based simulation system, which covers engine process from beginning of concept design to prototype verification testing, is introduced to resolve the issues above. At the end, one real case which relates to a developing small engine with durability problem in cylinder head is introduced. By means of benchmarking based concept and database itself, durability problem is well-solved to make sure the pace to engine mass-production.
