Abstract

Research and/or Engineering Questions/Objective

A whole automotive system is a dynamic, circulatory, balanced system, so that auto can normally running on the road; Automotive system contains many electrical and mechanical components, there is a relationship between every two different components, such as alternator provide power into wiring harness, and driving sensors working. If one of the relationships has error, the balance will be broken, the car running will not in good status even stopped. We can build up a theory and equations to describe these relationships. After that, when anyone of automotive components has error, by the relationships we can find the cause quickly.

Methodology

Generation-inhibition in five elements theory is similar to Newtonian mechanics, it is describing the force between two different objects with different or same properties; the eight trigrams theory is a theory to define object’ property, it classifies all substance on the earth into 8 types. If Generation-inhibition in five elements theory and the eight trigrams theory combined, it can describe every dynamic, cycle, balance system on the earth. Automotive system is such a dynamic, circulatory, balanced system. According to the eight trigrams theory, we can classify all automotive components in to 8 types with different 5 properties; and according to Generation-inhibition in five elements theory equations, when one component occurs one error, by calculation of equations we can find out the cause components and cause.

Results

When we input the error component code and error code, by calculation of equation will output the cause components codes and cause codes. Comparing with traditional diagnostic methods, this method has a wider detecting range than electronic diagnostic equipment, and easier to operate and analyze than a multimeter. We can consider it as a more advanced, wider range, more accurate diagnostic equipment.

Limitations of this study

This theory already built, but we also need to create an equipment like diagnostic unit to implement this process instead of calculating on paper.

What does the paper offer that is new in the field including in comparison to other work by the authors?

This theory and equations based on an ancient science theory from ancient China. Therefore, if we want to diagnose an issue of automotive system, besides by traditional methods, we have found a new way and field to detect the cause; this is what this paper described.

Conclusions

The application of Generation-inhibition in five elements theory and the eight trigrams theory, finding a new method to detect and diagnose the issues of automotive components, easier to calculate and analyse the issues.
