Abstract

ObjectiveResearch and/or Engineering Questions/Objective

Autonomous vehicle can drive itself from departure to arrival with no manual input from the driver. Autonomous vehicle is no longer just movie of science fiction. It real and will be on the road sooner than you imagine. But it not sure that autonomous vehicle is safe or not. So it necessary to evaluate for safety of autonomous vehicle. DVI means Driver-Vehicle-Interface in autonomous vehicle. DVI could be one of the most important and complex system within autonomous vehicle. DVI within autonomous vehicle is very different from that of a recent vehicle today.

Methodology

The priority for the DVI will move away from driver information and control toward infotainment. However, the DVI also needs to be aware of the environment of the vehicle, in case of emergency situations. In exceptional cases, the vehicle may need to alert the driver that it needs to be manually controlled or that is pulling over. The scope of this study consists of five working parts(WP). WP1 are automated vehicle function and driving behavior. WP2 is driver performance included transition time and quality evaluation method. WP3 is situation awareness included transition time and quality evaluation method. WP3 is situation awareness included driver ’s behavior analysis. WP4 s behavior analysis. WP4 s behavior analysis. WP4 s behavior analysis. WP4 are usability and acceptance included automated driving DVI usability. Last WP5 are training and tool included development of tools for automated driving experiment.

Results

Results of this study will be arrived at a conclusion through regulation or guideline for DVI safety of autonomous vehicle.

Limitations of this study

Focus of study will be limited for the control transition of autonomous vehicle and test scenario will be developed based on Virtual Reality (VR).

What does the paper offer that is new in the field including in comparison to other work by the authors?

There is no regulation or guideline for DVI safety in autonomous vehicle the world. It will be first attempt for this area.

Conclusions

New evaluation technology for DVI safety in autonomous vehicle has been studied. These results of study will be proposed as new regulation or guideline for autonomous vehicle.
