Abstract

Route simulations become more and more important to support the development process of trucks. The role of fuel economy and CO2 emissions set severe requirements to trucks. The measures and the complexity of vehicle controls for reducing CO2 emissions and fuel consumption are increasing significantly. Systems like advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) directly or indirectly control the speed profile of the truck. As a consequence, new methods for defining input route cycles, driver style and vehicle control functions are required to calculate fuel economy benefits of new vehicle technologies for different types of routes, drivers and vehicle configurations.
