Abstract
There are growing demands to improve vehicle fuel economy in order to protect the global environment, among other needs. For a new continuously variable transmission (CVT), we developed a new high-efficiency hydraulic system to meet the conflicting performance requirements for further fuel economy improvement and better driveability. This paper describes the measures taken to develop this high-efficiency hydraulic system, aimed at reducing friction in the new CVT and improving driveability.
