Abstract

This paper integrates the Battery Management System (BMS) into the Energy Management system to achieve a robust strategy for Hybrid Electric Heavy-duty Trucks (denoted as HEVs), where the requested battery lifetime is guaranteed for typical real-world driving situations. The developed control strategy, called Integrated Energy Management (IEM), utilizes a dynamic battery lifetime model to predict and manage the battery lifespan. Simulation results for different ambient temperatures and driving cycles demonstrate the robustness of the IEM strategy.
