Abstract

The focus of the work was an analysis by means of wavelet transform of the effect of electric torque motor control discontinuity on NVH issues of a longitudinal driveline of an electric light-duty vehicle.

The NVH issues of the driveline of an electric vehicle were studied when discontinuities occur in the torque motor control. In order to properly identify the characteristics of these discontinuities and their effect on the driveline, the wavelet transform was utilised. The wavelets allow abrupt change in frequency or in time of a signal to be properly studied in order to characterise non-harmonic behaviour in NVH issues. Following this process, a quantitative analysis of noise and vibration occurring in the driveline of an electric vehicle allowed better performances to be obtained. The motor control was optimized in order to improve the functionalities, comfort and reliability of the electric vehicle.

The results of this work demonstrate that wavelet analysis can assist in properly calibrating the electric motor control in order to limit the dynamic loads on the driveline of an electric vehicle.
