Abstract

Despite the stagnation in sales volume there is a growing demand in functional vehicles like SUVs, (Compact) Vans and MPVs. Beside emotional criteria the interior functionality of such vehicles is one of the major influencing factors on customer`s buying decision. But also for all other categories of vehicles certain fundamentally functions are expected by customers. In this context the term room functionality is used frequently. As there is no clear definition of room functionality the term has to be defined to declare precise requirements for the automotive development process. Therefore the functions concerning the interior functionality have to be specified and assigned to different vehicle concepts.
