Abstract

Purpose of this study is a development of high efficiency heat emission system using carbon nano tubes (CNTs) coating. Several decades ago, many carbon nano materials such as carbon nano tube, graphene and carbon nano fibre had been studied. We focus on the carbon nano tube(CNT).The CNTs dispersed paint was coated on heat sink surface of light emitting diode (LED) for radiation efficiency. Even though the LED has many benefits as a new light source, it is not easy to apply to headlamp module of automobile due to heat release process. Most important process on LED is how heat release system can be organized. A poor handling of heat release is harmful to LED, finally it bring a shorten durability. To deal with heat remission, some functional parts such as fan or heat pipe are added. These added parts, which were not considered in halogen lamp system, make an increasing lamp module weight. In this study, it was designed new heat emission system for high radiation efficiency without increasing weight. To forbid an increasing lamp module weight and to aid heat emission, we used CNTs coating on surface of heat sink. According to the Stefan-Boltzman’s law, emissivity and large surface area of object have an effect on radiation. The CNTs coating makes a high emissivity and a large surface area of heat sink.
