The Relative Damage Calculating of Belgian Roads in Different Proving Ground Based on Road Load Data

Abstract

The Belgian Road is one of the most typical tough roads of Proving Ground, and PAVE road durability test based on the Belgian Road has become essential for the development of the vehicle level durability test plan. It is used as rapid assessment of the durability of the vehicle body, and also can be rely on chassis durability under the vertical load cases, so there are different enhanced levels Belgian Road in Proving Ground in the world. The full vehicle road load data (RLD) tests were conducted in four kinds of different strengthening coefficient Belgian road in two different proving grounds, by using the Wheel Force Transducer (WFTs).The relative damage calculation process based on RLD (Road Load Data) are set up, by which the data analysis of the obtained times series load signals was done, comparison on frequency spectrum, Rainflow histogram, and the unit equivalent damage was conducted based on the relative damage principle in order to obtain the relative strengthen coefficient of four kind of Belgian roads. Simultaneously study of influence was conducted on testing payload (GVW and LVW), driving velocity experimental parameter etc. As a result, the relative damage calculating and correlation analysis of different Belgian Roads in different proving ground based on road load data will improve the load case input and PAVE test specification. The ‘Know How’ was obtained in the vehicle durability validation test plan.
