Abstract

Using lightweight materials for auto component production is one of the trends of developing auto industry. The main question of using new polymeric materials is the safety level of the lighter component. The plastic fuels tank and fuel pipes and connectors have to be non permeable for gasoline. The purpose of the presenting work is the experimental testing of gasoline permeation thought the polymeric parts of vehicle. The methodology of gasoline permeation was developed. The testing of polymeric material was at the condition close to real operation of vehicle. The using of highly sensitive mass-detector allows us not to use high vacuum during the experiments. It was taken in account that gasoline is a mixture of certain hydrocarbons, which was detected by GCMS. The different polymers were tested as material for fuel tank and gasoline pipelines and its connectors in a long time of operation.
