Abstract

Research and /or Engineering Questions/Objective:

In recent years, the new car has developed more and more, and the traditional development period is too long, and it is not for the market now. So, a new technology needs to be used in the new car development.

Methodology:

The new car development as the study object, the concept of “analysis drive design” is inducted to the previous Process. First of all, the parametric model of reference car is set up based on the SFE concept software, and the model is update by the new car CAS data closely. Secondly, the modal stiffness is solve by Nastrain and the vehicle impact is calculate based on Isight platform, and the poor results of car is find easily. Thirdly, the bad structure is to redesign by the method of DOE, to design the body structure is achieve the goal of lightweight, NVH and safety impact, in order to shorten the development cycle of the new car.

Results:

In the process of concept design, to find the poor structures of new car by the implicit parametric technology, and design the body structure is achieve the goal of lightweight, NVH and safety impact. Finally, shorten about 36 weeks for the new car development.

Limitations of this study:

The implicit parametric technology is used in the BIW, door, hood and hatchback only, the others structures of new car is unused.

Conclusion:

The implicit parametric technology is extremely useful in the new car development and body structure optimizing design, and the method will be widely used in automobile manufacturers.
