Abstract
To meet the stringent Chinese CAFE requirements and customers’ high fuel economy demands, PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) capable of extended electric and hybrid driving capacity plays a critical role in the powertrain electrification trend. In this paper, an innovative low-cost powertrain configuration with an integrated 3-speed transmission and dual electric motors for a balance of the electric and ICE power is proposed. Application for an A-class PHEV that can meet zero emissions in urban driving in pure electric or CD (Charge Depleting) mode and 4.0L/100km in hybrid or CS (Charge Sustain) mode based on simulation results is also discussed.
