Abstract
The contemporary industry suffers of lack of highly educated experts in the technical fields. The lack of high quality people coming from universities is felt not only by industrial employers but also by research institutions that are either working in the field of research and development or are newly established in order to transfer the knowledge to industries. The omen of the lack of people came 8 years ago by studying demographic development in the region and in the Czech Republic. The forecast announced a highly decreasing number of high school students due to the low birth rate 20 years ago. Taking into account also the popularity of humanities, the key question, how to motivate the high school student for studying technical branches, was set. The paper focuses on sociological investigation and feedback on motivating high school students by means of well selected summer jobs for the high school students to attract them to interesting topics to be studied at the universities with an impact on their future career choice.
