Abstract

This study introduces a method how to transfer a vehicle driving cycle to an engine test bed. This method is based on measurements on a real vehicle without any additional sensors mounting, which would increase cost and time requirements. Therefore, the aim consists in using data, which are already available in the vehicle. This leads to the usage of quantities which are measured or controlled by the engine ECU. Based on the acquisition of these quantities a reference cycle for the engine test bench is created. The choice of these characteristic quantities needed for the reference cycle creation is described in details as well and consists in understanding the control of the engine. This work deals also with the conditions of usage, benefits and imperfections of this method.
