Abstract
The reduction of fuel consumption dominates current markets concerning the power train and will continue to do so in the future. Adopting a cooled EGR system to improve pumping loss and to advance the ignition timing has become a popular technology in petrol engines. This paper addresses a new fin shape with a new mechanism to generate long life vortexes to improve the heat transfer. By applying this new fin to EGR coolers, heat transfer performance is improved by over 10%.
