Abstract

Integral Automotive Safety Systems are facing a completely new dimension of complexity, requiring new approaches of system development and validation. Current methods of system rating based on a fixed number of predefined test cases are inappropriate for highly complex systems and may lead to specialized solutions. Instead, robust systems should be developed for the benefit of both manufacturers and customers. Addressing these issues, a top-down system development method is proposed that integrates interdisciplinary aspects such as probabilistic modelling, numerical requirement conflict analysis, test design, simulation, and effectiveness rating.
