Abstract

Research and/or Engineering Questions/Objective
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) will make driving more safe and easy. When a car installed ACC and EBA, specific functions in ADAS, it will keep a constant distance from preceding car and autonomously brake hard when it is going to crash. It is useful for environmental simulation model in ADAS development in order to reduce risks and costs. The aim of this essay is to establish a precise pedestrian-vehicle-road platform and validate this platform by contrasting simulation results and real test results.

Methodology
This essay took a domestic brand ACC&EBA prototype car as an object and established a real world based virtual traffic model which included weather, roads, pedestrians, vehicles and the virtual prototype. Then ACC and EBA strategy were inserted with radar, camera, engine, CVT. Besides, tests were done at the same time to validate and adjust the model.

Results
This essay took two typical traffic conditions. One was accelerating, decelerating,, accelerating, and cursing following the preceding car. while the other was braking a emergency braking condition. Results showed that simulation and real tests had the same trend of vehicle movement performance. The model and simulation platform could be used in ACC and EBA strategy development and extended to more function development of ADAS.

Limitations of this study
Limitation of this paper is that we used geometry relationship instead of electromagnetic wave to build the radar model. However, the later method will have higher precision.

What does the paper offer that is new in the field including in comparison to other work by the authors?
Firstly, precise vehicle dynamic model was used in this essay. Secondly, test works were done to validate the model. Therefore, the model has high accuracy and it can be used for secondary development

Conclusion
The environmental model this essay has established is effective. It could be used not only to simulate and test ACC and EBA system function of the prototype but also for more function development of ADAS.
