Abstract

Since the number of traffic accidents that the elderly caused is still large in spite of advancement of various safety technologies, proactive intervention technologies for community roads which regularly support the elderly with decreased driving abilities are necessary for our Super Aged Society. This research focused on the recognition systems on community roads; further, this research developed the two technologies: detection method of road boundaries on community roads without white lines and classification method of traffic participants on community roads near roadside constructions.
