Abstract
In this paper we present the results of the first two months of a long-term field trial to investigate changes in driving behaviour when switching from conventional vehicles with internal combustion engines (ICEs) to electric vehicles (EVs). The sample of 15 drivers was initially divided into three categories according to their usual driving behaviour in ICEs by comparing observed speed and acceleration data. In the following analysis, changes in individual driving behaviour with private EVs were investigated in consideration of different kinds of trips. The analysis showed that individual participants showed different changes and trends. Due to the limited period of time and small number of participants, statistical methods allowed no generally valid conclusions.
