Abstract

In order to solve the problem of side crash in the driver blind spot, a method for recognizing the blind spot vehicles is proposed. Based on the adjacent lane detection and rear vehicle recognition results, the multi-trapezoid regions are designed and the third order cumulant is calculated, through which the separation threshold for vehicles is determined and the disturbances are excluded. The test shows this method can accomplish the positioning and tracking of blind spot vehicles under different conditions robustly.
