Abstract

This paper shows that the advice “accelerate slowly to save fuel” is frequently incorrect for internal combustion engined (ICE) vehicles. It goes on to describe the algorithms necessary to provide good driver feedback to reduce fuel consumption (and thus save CO2) and improve safety.
