Abstract

In this paper, a noncontact magnetostriction type torque sensor using iterative periodic time difference detection method and its application to a rotational shaft torque detection are described. In order to apply the proposed method to the rotational shaft, i) reduction of the sensor hysteresis due to the magnetic characteristic of materials, and ii) reduction of the sensor ripple due to the characteristic difference of material surface, are examined and carried out. As a result, it is shown that the sensor ripple can be suppressed about 1.0 Nm (p-p).
