Abstract
This paper presents a reliable gateway-embedded system for in-vehicle networks based on LIN, CAN, and FlexRay. We propose fault-tolerant hardware architecture and software diagnostics to improve the reliability of the gateway system. The proposed system is based on the extended asymmetric controller scheme, implemented by using two micro-controllers. One microcontroller performs the main function of achieving a gateway, often called the main microcontroller. The second microcontroller checks and monitors the health of the main microcontroller. Several experiments are employed to evaluate the performance of the proposed system.
