Abstract

In this paper, comparative analysis of transmission efficiency for one mode and two mode power split transmission is performed considering the transmission loss of the hydraulic pump, clutch and brake, and planetary gears. It is found from the comparative analysis that transmission efficiency depends on the power split configuration. For the low speed range, the two mode power split transmission shows better efficiency since it has two mechanical points of the input and compound split configuration. However, for the high speed range, the transmission efficiency decreases due to the increased transmission loss of the transmission elements. It is expected that the analysis of transmission efficiency considering the transmission loss can be used in development of the power split hybrid vehicle and its control strategy.
