Abstract

In this paper, first your attention will be drawn to the circumstances surrounding the diesel engine at present. Next, this paper will give a detailed description of the background to the improvement of thermal efficiency of diesel engines for commercial vehicles and the reduction of exhaust emission from them to the present. This paper will also discuss the future of the diesel engine and its element technology, and then talk in detail about the image and the technical feasibility of the automobile demanded by a low-carbon society. Finally, the author proposes vehicle model composition scenarios for reducing CO2 emissions from the automobile sector to one half by 2050, and also summarizes the contribution of the diesel engine for achieving this.
