Modeling the Braking Process for Motorcycle using Tire Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulator

The project introduces the braking system for motorcycle with ABS and simulation ofthe braking process using AMESim software and Tire Hardware-In-The-Loop Simulator (Tire HILS). The ABS system includes electronic and hydraulic control units and wheel velocity sensors. The original pre-extreme algorithm is used for ABS control. Firstly, the process of braking was simulated in AMESim software taking into account the design features of a motorcycle. Then the process of the braking was emulated using Tire HILS. The paper gives the analysis of the obtained simulation results and gives recommendations, which are necessary during designing of brake systems with ABS for motorcycles and other types of two-wheeled vehicles. The results of the discussed project were obtained by author during the visit to the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology within the framework of FISITA Travel Bursary Program with kind supervision of Prof. Masao Nagai (JSAE).
