Abstract

Door Slam Noise(DSN) is one of the primary attributes for drivers to determine the car image. Generally, The development of DSN was focused to reduce sound level and to eliminate rattle & squeaky noises. But it is difficult to explain the relation between sound level (or numerical values of single metric like sharpness and so on) of DSN and driver's preference. The reason for discordance is that the subjective assessment of DSN is influenced by driver's cognitive aspects. In this paper, the factors which affect the subjective evaluation of DSN is defined by Taguchi S/N ratios and also correlation analysis between these factors and subjective test(Jury Rating Evaluation) were carried out by regression analysis. Through this analysis, a standard reference DSN index model was suggested which can be used in Door Slam Noise Evaluation.
