The AUTOSAR development partnership deals with standardization in the main working areas software architecture, development methodology, and application interfaces. The architecture bases on a layer concept, that separates application software from infrastructure related basic software. Beneath the architecture AUTOSAR also has developed a methodology how to use the architecture, and in particular how to develop software according to this architecture. This paper presents the AUTOSAR methodology for the software development of automotive electric/electronic systems and reflects Continental's experiences with its application.
