Wireless communications inside vehicles have evolved at incredible rate during the last years. The combination of mobility and integration is opening new dimensions in communications. Bearing in mind such scenario, the fundamental purpose of OEM´s with new generation wireless systems inside vehicles is to deliver many kind of services integrated in the structure of the vehicle. In that sense, the antenna plays a very important role, and its size and performance is critical to meet the demands for current and future vehicles. That means that antenna technology has to evolve to fulfil the requirements imposed by new market trends in terms of services to be integrated inside vehicles, since the classical antennas (such as roof/mast antennas) can no longer meet the challenges for future products in terms of integration and multiservice purposes. In this paper it is presented some tests performed of fractal antennas in vehicles inside exterior rear-view mirrors and what the advantages are versus conventional technologies such as mast/roof or on-glass antennas.
