Many automotive companies have adopted FEM (Front End Module) into a car in order to reduce manufacturing process, weight and cost. FEM is on the way to becoming an automotive standard due to economic benefits. However, in terms of NVH Performance, FEM has been giving some difficult issues related to idle vibration to automotive engineers. In order to avoid the NVH issues such as idle vibration, many NVH engineers make an effort to reduce vibratory source like a cooling fan rotating vibration in FEM. But, these works need a lot of money to develop modular system and take a long time. So, this paper presents idle vibration, coming from the cooling fan rotating excitation, can be reduced by optimization of carrier stiffness, using Taguchi Method through the analytical and experimental approaches.
