The driver´s response to vehicle motion is an important consideration when developing an advanced vehicle control system. The electric active suspension used in this investigation was a rotary type electric active suspension that could control roll, pitch and bounce. The system can control of vehicle attitude and ride comfort based on an inertia input and road input with "sky-hook" control logic. Driving comfort was achieved by re-sets "sky-hook" control and examines insured logic for actuator delay. This paper describes the investigation into the effect of vehicle motion on the response of the driver. The differences in driver response when subjected to both larger and smaller roll angles produced by the active suspension were examined.
