Abstract
Aerodynamic performance has recently become an important part of large scooter development. Major areas of focus include limitation of drag, vehicle stability and sensitivity when exposed to side winds, pilot and passenger protection (air flux direction, water management) and characterization of aerodynamic loads on accessories such as the windscreen. As windtunnel testing still is the reference today, the fast evolution of computer power now allows engineers to consider numerical simulation to reduce costs and time to process.
