Abstract

Abstract

For competitive low consumption vehicles like PAC-Car II the driving resistance needs to be reduced to the minimum. The aerodynamic shape contributes significantly to the over-all drag of the vehicle. Experimental (wind tunnel tests) and numerical methods (CFD) have been used during the design process. The present paper gives some insight on how both methods were successfully used during the aerodynamic design process of that world record vehicle.
